communication strategy

Practicing Best Practices

What are we doing? Are we doing it right? Is it effective? And what's the competition up to? If you're not asking yourself these questions, your marketing dollars might be money down the drain.

Requirements Analysis

The foundation of every project: we assess your business goals, define your target audience, and identify the tools we can employ to support both.

Search Engine Optimization

Analysis of the your site's code and architecture to ensure it's search-engine-friendly, and assessment of the search landscape to identify a baseline to steadily improve upon.

competitive analysis

After identifying a competitive set, we conduct a thorough review and ranking of every site's features to identify your industry's best practices as well as opportunities to gain a competitive edge.

usability testing

Whether it's an hour-long testing session with a focus group based on your site's user profile, or simply the classic "Grandma Test", usability testing is an often overlooked investment in making your site a comfortable place to interact.

success metrics

The bottom line: analysis of site server traffic patterns and key user task conversions to increase your ROI.

creative content development

What's the Story Here?

Do you have a market to reach? Then you're in the content delivery business. What's the message you're sending? How many ways are you sending it? The channels of communication are oh-so-many ... I can help you create your own media empire.

Online Content Development

Beyond the "About Us" page... beyond the brochure... communicate with your customers by fulfilling a need: provide tools such as downloads, quizzes, resources or surveys to help them clarify their needs... as well as how you can uniquely serve them.

Design for Web and Print

Is your branding consistent? Is your organization's image in sharp focus or suffering from schizophrenia? A cohesive image across the spectrum of customer communication can eliminate the 'white noise' and increase effectiveness.

Writing for Web and Print

Here, the rules of journalism - not marketing - apply: clear and concise (and typo-free)! Are you wasting your audience's time with bloated puffery and obscuring the message?

Information Graphics

Quantifiable information, when presented effectively, is powerfully convincing... as they say, a picture is worth 1,000 words. I can help you support your message with the visual display of your compelling data.

Photography

Why pay for stock photos when you can make the most of your own identity? Your people, your environment, your product or service can be captured for use on the web and in print.

make it work for you

There are so many tools available to support your business goals online. E-commerce? Customer relationship management? Mailing lists? Content management? Discussion boards? Blogs? This is the backbone of what I do - creatively solving business problems with interactive tools.

Web Application Development

From standard tools like e-commerce, discussion boards, events calendars, and photo galleries to custom solutions like inventory database or membership directory, we can build it.

Mailing List Application Development

I strongly recommend this for any organization - regular contact with your audience. Building a mailing list is often the beginning of an ongoing relationship with your user community that you can rely on for feedback, interaction and involvement - and regular business.

Email Account/Domain Hosting and Management

Isn't it convenient to have your entire communication strategy covered with just one bill? Let me worry about all the details and keep you in constant contact, while you do what you do best.

Basic PC/Mac Troubleshooting and Maintenance

Yes, I make house-calls! Spyware? Wireless network? Print server? I've been maintaining PCs and Macs on a variety of networks for six years.

During four years working with The Hill newspaper, a weekly Capitol Hill publication, we grew a sporadically-updated web site with a couple thousand visitors per month into a complete online version handling 1,000,000 visits per month and an E-news mailing list of over 10,000. Wireless content, interactive crosswords, reader polls, and live online interviews are just a few ways we utilized the website to serve The Hill's readers.
